Presented by Grand Wagoneer by Classic Gentleman, America's distinguished buyer, restorer and seller of low mile Grand Wagoneers.......Currently under mechanical and cosmetic restoration with estimated completion date of late December….Reserve Now as our available and in production restoration pieces continue to be complete sellouts year in and year out…
Thank you to our loyal clients and patrons!….
….And there is still time to select your choice of exterior colors. (Hunter Green, Spinnaker Blue, Colorado Red, White, Grey, Baltic Blue and more….)
Here we have a 72,500 original mile 1984 inaugural year Grand Wagoneer. Until our purchase, she was always a 100% southern piece and has never seen snow or road salt. That gives her the frame and undercarriage making her worthy of the investment required in a Classic Gentleman restoration. This is all confirmed by an accident free Carfax. She has also been fitted with a remanufactured Jasper original spec 360ci v8 motor, updated fuel injection and so much more.
We have scheduled this ’84 to be finished in the ever popular and almost never seen Hunter Green paint finish but there is still time for the next owner to pick whatever color they would like. Have a look at the restoration page on our website to see how considerable our full color conversion process is. Here is just one specific, we even paint the metal floors under the new floor carpeting the new color. In addition to the new exterior paint, we will be installing new exterior wood trim along with replacing the original wood look vinyl siding. The front grill is brand new and the wheels are being professionally refinished and will be wrapped by fresh whitewall tires. The remaining exterior chrome and aluminum bits, such as the bumpers, door handles, luggage rack and so on, whilst not new, only exhibit low mile southern usage and as such, still present nicely.
The tan color interior is receiving the same level of attention as the Grand’s exterior and mechanicals. We have buyers that prefer the first Grand Wagoneer model years of 1984 & 1985 because their dashboard layout is the traditional round gauge set up that were fitted in Wagoneers since the 1970’s. We will be installing new carpeting across the floors in both the cabin and cargo areas along with the sides of the cargo compartment and inner tailgate. New custom floor mats will also be included to protect the fresh carpet.
The interior seating for this 1984 is one of the areas where we shine. Our local Amish craftsman will replace all the original and now aged factory leather with all new leather, along with replacing the factory fabric seat inserts with new fabric. It is expensive and time consuming to do but just one of the ways that a Classic Gentleman restoration stands out. We also will recoat the dashboard and steering wheel to freshen them cosmetically. Above it all, a new headliner will be installed. The interior appointments include power seats, power windows, power door locks, power mirrors and AM/FM stereo with Bluetooth. Air conditioning of course is fully serviced and updated to R134.
At Grand Wagoneer by Classic Gentleman, we often spend more time and monies looking after the mechanical and electrical needs of these Grands than all the cosmetic stuff you see on the outside wrapper. This special Grand is likewise in that category. First off, she has been fitted with a remanufactured by Jasper original spec 360ci v8 engine. Here is what that means to the next owner:
This motor was first completely disassembled including the blocks, heads, connecting rods, crankshafts and camshafts and commercially cleaned to remove contaminants that can result in premature wear to internal engine components and early engine failure.
Crankshafts are precision machined to exact tolerances. After machining, oil holes are chamfered to improve lubrication and every journal polished to a smooth finish for long bearing life. Crankshafts are thoroughly cleaned with special emphasis to flushing and brushing out oil passages to remove any contaminants.
Camshafts are inspected for wear, dimensional accuracy and gauged for straightness. Camshaft lobes are carefully machined to correct specifications. Each shaft is Parco-Lubricated to improve lubricant adhesion.
Cylinders are bored and honed to exact specifications. Blocks are carefully inspected for cracks and flaws. Cylinder finish and size are closely monitored to industry surface finish standards. This assures smooth piston travel and engine performance.
Connecting rods are machined and gauged to within a half a thousandth for improved operation.Rods are carefully machined to avoid taper and to the standard diameter of original equipment. All rods are checked for bend and twist to assure smooth operation.
Heads are carefully inspected for cracks and flaws. Every head is resurfaced to exact dimensional tolerances and the surface finish is carefully monitored for proper sealing with the block. Valve seats and guides are machined to exact specifications or replaced to assure correct valve alignment and seating and optimum engine performance.
The old and troublesome carburetor has been toss out in a cloud of “good riddance” and replaced with modern fuel injection. Some highlights of the fuel injection upgrade include the following:
Throttle body with mounting plate
Electric fuel pump
Inline fuel filter with hoses
Inline fuel pump
New engine harness with OBDII date connector
New oxygen sensor
Electronic ignition module
Electronic speed sensor to replace speedo cable
High performance ignition wire set
Premium distributor cap & rotor
New spark plugs
Chrome ignition coil
Fuel injection is easily the #1 reliability improvement that we add to all of our pieces at Grand Wagoneer by Classic Gentleman and with a newly remanufactured engine also installed, this one is as ready as one can be.
Of course one of the most important aspects of any Jeep, the 4 wheel drive system, is ready for the trail. You will find the shift on the fly 4 wheel drive ready and willing (both the high and low 4 wheel drive settings).
Our buyers receive a document file on their purchase, which lists in detail the highlights of the mechanical and cosmetic works performed
.
Why buy from a Grand Wagoneer specialist? Our entire focus is on Grand Wagoneers and we know these unique vehicles inside and out. When you purchase a Classic Gentleman Wagoneer it has been thoroughly inspected and works completed by professional mechanics, some with over forty years of Wagaoneer experience. We purchase fine example Jeeps from a variety of sources including other dealers and private parties. We are often told by the seller, “My Jeep is excellent and needs nothing” however, being in this profession, we know to expect and plan for a great deal of sorting. Remember the average age of these vehicles is over thirty years old and even with loving care many the cosmetics and mechanical parts have aged and worn accordingly. When a Classic Gentleman Grand Wagoneer arrives at your home, it is a special occasion and the Grand will be in beautiful condition. Yes, our sales are as-is, but as you will see from our detailed document files that your Grand has been looked after carefully. Our goal is to see that the joy and enthusiasm of Grand Wagoneer ownership begins immediately with your purchase and that it will be there for years to come.
Still, and here is the most honest paragraph you have perhaps ever seen from a restoration house/dealer, in some ways these Jeeps were terrible even when they were new. Sometimes we wonder if automotive engineering was more of a hobby with Jeep executives. For example, a Grand Wagoneer was the very last vehicle produced in America still fitted with a carburetor. The factory installing an ancient artifact like a carburetor to these Grands is a perfect example of Wagoneers being more primitive than other vehicles of the same model years. Now we automatically upgrade and modernize each of our Grands with MODERN FUEL INJECTION, eliminating the troublesome carburetor and therefore also eliminating the next owner having to constantly hector his local Jeep service advisor to adjust the carburetor. But, in most every other way, we can’t change the method these were built by the factory. In many respects the manufacturer used outdated technology and manufacturing methods and as a restorer, we will always be compromised by that circumstance. Did you know you can remove the front grill from a final year 1991 Grand Wagoneer and behind it still see the round cut out holes for the 1963 Jeep Wagoneer headlights. Those are just two examples above to illuminate the discussion. Therefore, please understand you will do more maintenance and servicing of a vintage Grand Wagoneer than a modern piece, even one we have restored. That is just a truth, fellow enthusiast. If you don’t have the un-excitability and tolerance for that, then let us say to you candidly, don’t buy one. But let us also remind you that it is indeed that old school style and looks of a Grand Wagoneer that have made them so ever popular today.
