The alternator belt tension on 1961-69 Chrysler products can be adjusted with this tool. Original service manuals refer to this tool as tool number C-3841 and show adjustment procedures in the Group 7A “Accessory Belt Drive” section
The 1962 service manual reads: “All alternator and power steering pump belts can be tightened to the specified tension (see Data and Specifications) by use of a torque wrench. The alternator belts are tensioned by using a special tool C-3841 and a torque wrench (see photo). The special tool should be hooked at the heavily ribbed section of the alternator rectifier end shield. To tighten belts by this method, loosen all mounting bolts and apply the specified torque. Tighten all mounting bolts while the torque is applied. If it is not possible to use the torque wrench because of clearance, use an extension.”
