These are RARE Genuine Steel Engraved United Airline Bonds issued to investors between the 1930's and 1970's!!! We are lucky that ANY remain in private hands!! After all, what are the chances that a bank or broker would have allowed them to escape their files and vaults into the hands of the public and tempt fate when it came to fraudulent uses? Such chances turned to nil in the 1990's, stopped cold by Federal (SEC) restrictions!
ZERO cancelled stock and bond certificates have been in the hands collectors if they are dated 2000 or later!!
Which makes these hot hot airline classics the perfect candidates for sure-fire future appreciation, though you'd probably never want to sell them for reasons like the following -
Each is exquisitely engraved by American Bank Note Co. in the intaglio manner - just like antique U.S. Currency!
Each has a superb steel-etched vignette of a nude young heroic man - carrying a globe as he reaches for the sun, or running in a winged helmet as he carries a winged wheel (symbolic of aviation itself!) - framed by a highly ornate border in a different color!
